On Saturday, Frances Tiafoe brutally roasted his opponent, Jaime Faria, during the third round of the French Open 2026. Despite the intense pushback over his comment, his girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, took it to social media to celebrate the 2023 Stuttgart Open winner’s recent win on the Paris clay.

Tiafoe and the Portuguese qualifier, Jaime Faria, got into a verbal altercation during the five-set match that dragged on over midnight. The two went on to argue about an early call on the fifth set, where the American lashed out at his opponent and said:

“Why don’t you quit trying to act like you’re tough? You’re not hard bro, just play” – Frances Tiafoe roasted Jaime Faria

Subsequently, Faria went over to the chair umpire and complained:

“You see what he’s saying?” – Jaime Faria told the chair umpire.

“You were as well, so please…You act like you haven’t been saying anything about him or about me. Please let me do my job” – The umpire responded.

Frances Tiafoe’s verbal outburst was met with public disapproval, but despite it, his girlfriend, Ayan, couldn’t be more proud of the 28-year-old’s epic 4-6, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (4), 6-1, 6-2 victory.

“Exactly 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼” – Frances Tiafoe’ girlfriend Ayan captions her IG story.

Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, addresses racism towards women of colour in tennis

Ayan Broomfield, a former Division I tennis player, recently made headlines when she addressed the racism she and other black women face as partners of the tennis stars. In a recent interview, Ayan revealed how she always doesn’t feel welcome when she joins the American for his tournaments.

“Sometimes when I go to tournaments, I’ll have my credential on and I’ll go to the entrance and people will be like, ‘The workers’ entrance is over there,’ ” – Ayan Broomfield said.

“And I’m like, ‘Well, actually, my significant other is about to play on center court in five minutes. I’m in the right line, I promise.’ “- she added.

Broomfield continued by saying, although it’s not a big thing, she thinks it is unpleasant, and it is because the sport lacks enough representation. After attending the Australian Open last year and failing to see any women of colour for five days in the tournament, she decided to launch an organization to bring more black women into these sports tournaments.

Frances Tifoe will next face Matteo Arnaldi in the Round 16 of the French Open, which is slated for June 1, 2026.
