Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to let Dani Carvajal leave his boyhood club as a free agent after the expiration of his contract this summer.
Carvajal, who turned 34 earlier this January, is considered a modern-day legend of Los Blancos after being at the club for close to 13 years. He has four La Liga titles, six UEFA Champions League trophies, and two Copa del Rey crowns among other silverwares for his current club.
Thanks for the submission!
However, the veteran full-back has suffered a major dip in quality over the past two seasons owing to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. After appearing in 12 games across all competitions last campaign, he has featured in just 19 total appearances for Real Madrid this season.
Now, according to Spanish news outlet MARCA, Carvajal is aware his time at Real Madrid is close to an end and is aiming to move to Qatar this summer. His club are prepared to respect the defender’s wishes amid reported interest from Qatar Stars League club Al-Gharafa.
Carvajal, who has represented Spain 52 times so far, is allegedly aiming to reunite with his former teammate and brother-in-law Joselu at Al-Gharafa. The Spaniard is said to have met Joselu in Qatar last December.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man could next be in action for Los Blancos in their La Liga encounter against Deportivo Alaves this Tuesday.
Serie A boss claims club continue to monitor young Real Madrid academy stars
Como head coach Cesc Fabregas has revealed that the Serie A club keep a close eye on Real Madrid’s academy stars following successes of Nico Paz and Jacobo Ramon. He said (h/t MARCA):
“Yes, we follow Real Madrid Castilla players. We’re always on the move, and we have to be because, I repeat: sometimes, yes, ‘Big data’, this, that… live. You have to see the player in real time. Their feelings, their ball control, their movements, whether they speak or not… it’s very important.”
Fabregas, who played for Barcelona from 2011 to 2014, added:
“We are looking to improve for the future. And yes, we know the results Nico Paz and Jacobo Ramon have achieved, and we continue to think about possible solutions for the future. But not only there, but in the world in general.”
After signing Paz from Los Merengues in 2024, Como roped in Ramon from the La Liga side last summer. Their Spanish-born duo has helped the club launch a shock challenge for a top four finish in the Serie A this term.
