The AJ Brown saga remains a hot topic around the NFL. With June 1 approaching, the trade rumors involving the veteran wide receiver resurfaced. The Philadelphia Eagles would be better off waiting until after that date to move him, given the financial implications of the move.

The New England Patriots remain in the race to acquire Brown’s services, but the situation might not be as easy as before. Still, Patriots players sound excited about the prospect of adding Brown to the roster. During a Thursday conversation with the press, defensive tackle Milton Williams opened up on this possibility.

“You see the noise, and you see it,” Williams said. “[He’s a] hell of a player. He can definitely help our team. But they don’t pay me to do that.”

He then described what Brown could bring to the Patriots outside the field.

“Great dude,” he added. “Monster on the field, great in the locker room, holding guys accountable and holding himself accountable. That’s everything you want in a player of his caliber.”

Philadelphia Eagles’ asking price for AJ Brown becomes major roadblock for the Patriots

During Wednesday’s edition of NFL Network’s “The Insiders,” Ian Rapoport shared a concerning update about the Eagles’ asking price to move on from AJ Brown.

“As far as the actual trade, we’re all waiting for June 1 to happen, so the cap hit is in half for the Philadelphia Eagles and they can trade [Brown],” Rapoport said. “I just don’t know that it’s going to be like ‘snap your fingers and the deal is done,’ because the two sides are where they have been — which is the Eagles wanting a first-round pick in 2027.

“The Patriots — being the most likely destination, we’ll see if someone else arises — but the Patriots [are] not willing to give up a first-round pick, as of right now.”

This could ruin the Patriots’ hope to add one of the best wide receivers in the league. The LA Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly keeping tabs on the AJ Brown situation.
