Jonathan Coachman claimed that Chris Jericho rejected Triple H’s pitch for a WWE return
Last year, Chris Jericho suddenly went on an unexplained hiatus from AEW. During this time, there were a lot of rumors floating around about his future in the company. The most common speculation was that the former World Champion was going to leave AEW and join WWE when his current contract expired. However, that didn’t end up happening. Ultimately, Jericho returned to Dynamite earlier this year and has been feuding with Ricochet ever since.
While speaking on the Coach and Bro Show, Jonathan Coachman claimed that when Jericho was a free agent, Triple H approached him about a potential feud with CM Punk. However, Jericho didn’t think it was enough and turned him down.
“I talked to my connect and when Jericho was trying to decide, and Tony admitted to us that he was a free agent, apparently Triple H the only thing he had for him was a program with CM Punk. That was it. And Jericho was like, ‘Nothing else? Nothing else?’ And you see what happened,” he said. [H/T – TJR Wrestling]
It’s good that Chris Jericho decided to return to AEW.
