Rey Fenix joined the WWE roster last year and has been competing on SmackDown. He formed a tag team with Andrade. However, the duo had to abruptly disband after Andrade was released from the company. Over the past few weeks, Fenix has been competing in AAA.

On the 2nd May episode of AAA on Fox, Rey Fenix faced off against Laredo Kid in a singles match. Both men put on a spectacular match that had the fans on their feet. In the end, Fenix was able to get the win. After the match, fans threw coins into the ring, which is the ultimate sign of respect in lucha libre wrestling. Fenix even extended his hand to Laredo Kid. However, Laredo Kid shoulder pushed him and walked away.

Rey Fenix revealed why he hasn’t reunited with Penta in WWE

Before arriving in WWE, Rey Fenix and Penta were known for their tag team wrestling. The Lucha Bros. were one of the most popular tag teams in the world. However, upon arriving in the Stamford-based promotion, Fenix and Penta were placed on different brands away from each other. While Fenix formed a tag team with Andrade before pursuing a singles run, Penta has found success as the Intercontinental Champion.

During a recent appearance on the RRBG podcast, Rey Fenix revealed that he missed working with Penta, but this was also great way for them to showcase their individuality.

“Obviously, I miss wrestling with my brother. I miss fighting and working with him every day, whenever we’re working, but it’s a great opportunity we have to show who we are individually. I have worked with Je’Von Evans, I worked in his time with Andrade, I’m working now with Sami Zayn, and I also worked with Rey Mysterio at the most recent AAA events. I think it’s a good opportunity both for us as wrestlers and for the audience to see something different,” Rey Fenix said. (11:51 onwards)

It remains to be seen if Lucha Bros. will reunite in the WWE.
