Team India wicket-keeper Sanju Samson has been named the ICC Player of the Month for March 2026 after his T20 World Cup 2026 heroics that led to a historic third title for the country. All of the opener’s stunning innings in the competition, including his fifties in the semi-final and the final, had come last month, for which he was even adjudged the player of the tournament.
Sanju Samson scored his iconic, unbeaten 97, in the virtual knockout clash against the West Indies on March 1 in Kolkata, and chipped in with instrumental knocks of 89 each in the knockout clashes in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, to have a memorable month.
“Winning the ICC Player of the Month award is an incredible feeling, especially as it comes during what has been the most unforgettable phase of my cricketing journey. Playing a part in India’s triumph at the Men’s T20 World Cup was truly a dream realised, and it took some time for the magnitude of that moment to fully sink in,” Samson told ICC.
Sanju Samson had started the World Cup on the bench after the team went with the in-form pair of Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma. However, midway through the tournament, the Men in Blue shook things up, especially after the shocking loss to South Africa in the Super 8 stage.
Facing elimination from the tournament, Sanju Samson showed promise on his return game against Zimbabwe, and has not turned back since then. He is currently part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) setup in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign. After a poor start with his new franchise, he recently struck a sublime hundred in the home win over the Delhi Capitals (DC).
MI women’s team star player Amelia Kerr named ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March 2026
New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr had a busy and stellar March, playing a vital role in the bilateral series against Zimbabwe and South Africa. She was recently crowned the No.1 T20I Women’s all-rounder for his displays last month, which include two fifties and a hundred, alongwith 24 wickets. She recorded two five-fers, including record figures of 7-34 in the second ODI against Zimbabwe in Dunedin.
“It’s always nice to be able to contribute to wins for your country but seeing the way the whole team has played, the selflessness and the belief is what has been the highlight for me this past month,” Kerr told ICC.
She has extended her rich vein of form into April as well after kick-starting the month with an unbeaten 179 in the historic run chase against South Africa. The White Ferns would hope that she is able to maintain her purple patch for the upcoming 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
