WWE announced the bracket for the 2026 King of the Ring during the post-show of Clash in Italy, and the tournament officially kicked off on the June 1 episode of Monday Night RAW. Now, a major update has emerged on the sports entertainment juggernaut’s plans for the KOR winner.

The tournament features 16 men competing in four Fatal Four-Way first-round matches, with the finals set for Night of Champions on June 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The winner will earn a world title shot at SummerSlam.

If a RAW star wins, he will challenge for Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship, and if a SmackDown star wins, he will get a shot at Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the winner of the tournament had not been decided when the brackets were announced. It was also noted that at least three names were in consideration to win, and those names were not revealed.

Major WWE star reportedly planned to win King of the Ring

The King of the Ring tournament opened on the June 1 edition of Monday Night RAW, where Oba Femi defeated Penta, Carmelo Hayes, and Solo Sikoa in the first Fatal Four-Way match.

While The Ruler is the fan favorite, Ibou on Self Made Sessions noted that Seth Rollins is the current planned winner of the King of the Ring, with WWE eyeing him to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.

“Seth Rollins is going to win King of the Ring. Today I was just talking to somebody about the King of the Ring situation, and what they said to me was there are a lot of moving parts. There’s a lot up in the air right now for SummerSlam, for whatever reason. What they told me was that, right now, the plan is for Seth Rollins to win the tournament and face Roman Reigns. So that’s what I was told.”

The Visionary is set to compete in his first-round match on the June 8 episode of the red brand against Je’Von Evans, Ricky Saints, and Talla Tonga. It will be interesting to see what Triple H and his creative team have planned and if he advances to the final round.
