Flau’jae Johnson chose Rihanna over Drake while revealing her favorite song of the season. On Monday, journalist Landon Buford shared a video featuring an interview with the Seattle Storm rookie.
In the video, Johnson was asked for her opinion on Drake after a reporter noticed that many of the pop star’s songs were playing during their shootarounds. The Storm guard revealed that her teammate had played Drake’s songs.
“Oh no, that’s T (Taylor Thierry). She always listened to Drake all day,” she said. “I like, I love Drake… I say Marvin’s Room is my favorite Drake song, but I like Rihanna. Kiss IT Better is the song of the season.”
Later, the reporter asked Flau’jae Johnson if she would want to collab with Rihanna on a song.
“Hell Yeah,” she said.
The Storm rookie is not just a basketball player who likes music. She is a multi-talented woman who has a knack for both basketball and rapping. She is signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation label, so a collaboration with Rihanna is not totally a far reach for Johnson.
She has previously worked witrh legendary artists like Lil Wayne. As of now, she has more than 177,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Alysha Clark showers high praise on Flau’Jae Johnson ahead of first game against the Storm
Dallas Wings guard Alysha Clark showered high praise on Flau’Jae Johnson’s growth as a player ahead of Dallas’ first matchup of the season against the Storm on Monday.
“It’s been great to watch her,” she said. “She’s come in and just really, honestly, been so confident, and that’s something I think with this rookie class that’s come in, you’ve seen across the board.”
“She’s been a great player and a piece for Seattle and that organization and that city. I know they’ve been rallying behind her and love her, and I just love that they get to experience a player like that.”
The Golden State Valkyries drafted Johnson as the pick in the 2026 draft. However, Flau’jae Johnson was traded to the Storm on the same night. So far, she has played nine games for Seattle, averaging 11.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game on 30.9% shooting.
