New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart introduced U.S. President Donald Trump at one of his rallies in New York on Friday. However, Dart’s teammate and linebacker Abdul Carter didn’t seem too pleased with the QB endorsing Trump before his speech.

“Thought this sh!t was AI, what we doing man,” Carter tweeted on Saturday.

On Sunday, Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis offered his take on the controversy around Dart and Carter’s political differences, and how it could affect the Giants as a unit.

“When the season starts, they are gonna have to come together and find common ground,” Bettis said to WFAN’s Danielle McCartan. “Because, ultimately, you gotta be able to trust your teammates, right? … Because both of these guys have to be leaders of their respective sides of the ball. The only way it works is that the whole team is working towards one goal.”

Bettis was also asked if Dart and Carter’s relationship could hurt the Giants’ locker room.

“It could, potentially,” Bettis said. “It has the potential to. Obviously, every guy has to trust each other. And when that erodes, then, now, you have guys picking sides. And that’s the last thing you ever want in your locker room.”

Bettis played in the NFL as a running back for 13 seasons. He played for the St. Louis/LA Rams from 1993 to 1995 and for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1996 to 2005.

Bettis won the Super Bowl with the Steelers in 2006. He earned six Pro Bowl selections and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
