Caitlin Clark added another impressive feat to her resume on Sunday. The Indiana Fever star served as the Grand Marshall for the Indianapolis 500, one of the most famous races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Fever star was tasked with the honor of making an announcement at the race, where she would tell the drivers to get to their cars. Clark aced the job in her first attempt at the role, but had fun practicing it behind the scenes.
Caitlin Clark’s teammate, Lexie Hull, had accompanied the Fever star to the race. On Sunday, she shared a TikTok featuring Clark practicing her announcement lines.
The Fever star tried an original version of the announcement in practice. In her first attempt, she paused after calling out the drivers.
“Drivers, pause, to your cars! cars now!” Clark said.
The video then cuts to the Fever star getting ready to start the race on the stage. Hull turns the camera to show her reaction before flipping it back to capture Clark making the announcement. Clark ditched her practice version of the lines when on stage. She kicked off the race in a standard tone.
Rows of fans greeted Caitlin Clark and made her sign autographs as she walked towards the stage to start the race. More than 300,000 fans gave the Fever star a loud ovation as she took the microphone.
Caitlin Clark rocked a custom Indiana Fever helmet at the Indy 500
Caitlin Clark paid homage to the Indiana Fever at the Indy 500. The Fever star rocked a custom Fever helmet and posed for the paparazzi at the venue. She raised both of her arms in the air before walking to the iconic Borg-Warner Trophy to pose with it.
The custom helmet featured the Fever logo on each side. It featured the signature red-and-black accent colors of the WNBA team. A custom nameplate carrying Clark’s name was visible inside the visor.
Clark went to the event following 22 points and nine assists in a 90-82 Fever win over the Golden State Valkyries on Friday. The Fever star is on a great run in her third season in the league.
She is averaging 23.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game on 43.2% shooting. The Fever have a big gap in their schedule, which allowed Clark to attend the off-court event without any hassle. Indiana plays the Valkyres on Thursday to wrap up their back-to-back matchup.
