AJ Styles retired from WWE earlier this year following a defeat at the hands of Gunther at the Royal Rumble. He was then inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2026, marking the end of an incredible run for The Phenomenal One. But recently, the former WWE Champion talked about a rematch in AEW.

That statement meant that The Phenomenal One is not ruling out the possibility of the dream match. Since then, fans have been running wild on the internet with various speculations and thoughts.
Some X users asked Tony Khan to pay any amount to AJ Styles to sign up for All Elite Wrestling. Moreover, some fans expressed their deep desire to see Kenny Omega and Styles have a match in professional wrestling. Besides, fans continuously asked Tony Khan to try his best to ink a deal with The Phenomenal One anyhow. Overall, fans are positive that this match might happen somewhere down the line in the world of professional wrestling. Nonetheless, this latest comment by the WWE Hall of Famer has certainly sparked excitement among the fans.
AJ Styles talked about his match with John Cena at Crown Jewel 2025
AJ Styles and John Cena had an incredible match at Crown Jewel 2025. It was their last match in their careers, marking the end of a compelling rivalry. In his recent interview, Styles revealed a wild detail about his clash with The Cenation Leader last year.
In the same interview on Phenomenally Retro, Styles revealed that there was no prior preparation for his match with John Cena. The former WWE Champion added that Cena called the entire match on the spot itself. However, The Phenomenal One said that there was nothing to be worried about because he believes The Franchise Player is one of the best of all time.
“Our last match, we didn’t have anything called in the beginning. Nothing was called. He just said, ‘I’ll call it.’ I go, ‘Okay,’ and I trusted him so much that I wasn’t worried about it. Let’s just go out there and call it, bro, I’m listening to you. That was it. There was a couple of matches that were very like that. He would take control of it, and he would call the match. He’s different, man,” said AJ. [H/T: Fightful]
The Cenation Leader retired in December 2025, followed by an emotional retirement of AJ Styles in January. But still, there is speculation among the fans that Styles might return for one more match down the line. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if that would ever happen or not.
