Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods’ first public appearances since their recent WWE exits have been announced. However, it won’t be an in-ring return as the former tag team champions will appear in a non-wrestling capacity.

Kofi and Woods were associated with the global juggernaut for over 15 years. The duo’s run with the company recently came to an end, as they were reportedly released from their contracts after not agreeing to take a pay cut.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are still under a 90-day non-compete clause and can’t wrestle anywhere else. However, that won’t stop the former tag team champions from making non-wrestling appearances. They were recently announced for the GalaxyCon, which will take place in Oklahoma City on 24 May and Nashville on 30 May.

Matt Hardy commented on Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods’ WWE departure

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were a prominent part of WWE programming for over a decade. The duo, along with Big E, formed one of the greatest wrestling factions of all time, The New Day. While Big E had to step away from in-ring action a few years ago due to an injury, Woods and Kingston continued to feature as a tag team.

Everyone was shocked by the New Day stars’ releases because they were thought of as WWE lifers. On his podcast, Matt Hardy reaffirmed this, stating that the pair’s departure was totally unexpected.

“Shock. It was definitely shocking. The New Day has been such a staple of WWE, and you think they’re going to be WWE lifers, no doubt about it. And the last thing you expect is, as popular and as prominent as they still are right now, they’re going to be gone from WWE. It was very, very shocking to hear.”

The veteran added that he was surprised that the two parties could not reach an agreement:

They were such big stars on a high level. It was shocking. I’m surprised they didn’t really try to figure out some way to make it work.”

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are rumored to join All Elite Wrestling after their non-competes expire. Many AEW stars have already hinted at the duo’s arrival, with fans also eagerly waiting for the former New Day members to stand across the ring from the Young Bucks.
