Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell were involved in a brief confrontation on pit road after Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International. The exchange came after a frustrating afternoon for both drivers, with Wallace finishing 29th and Bell 21st.
NASCAR on FOX shared a clip of their post-race interaction on X with the caption:
Thanks for the submission!
“A post-race chat for Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell 👀.”
It quickly drew widespread attention online. The moment itself lacked clear context, but it did not stop fans from reacting strongly. Bubba Wallace, as is often the case, became the central target. Several users flooded X with criticism, turning the brief exchange into a broader judgment of his driving and on-track conduct.
One fan wrote:
“Bubba is such a whiny bi**h. He is the Verstappen of NASCAR without the talent…”
Others echoed similar frustration.
“Why is BUBBLES even in NASCAR… Every weekend it’s the same thing,” another post read.
“@23XIRacing, it’s time this idiot finds a new job… wasted money, wasted time,” a third added.
The tone remained consistent across reactions, with criticism aimed more at Bubba Wallace’s overall reputation than the specific incident.
Some fans traced the issue back to earlier moments in the race. One comment suggested:
“I saw Bubba get into Bell early on for no reason. I think that’s what started it.”
Another questioned the situation entirely, pointing instead to a separate incident involving John Hunter Nemechek:
“I’m so curious, WTF is going on here. I figured Bubba would be upset with JHN. No clue what this would be about.”
That moment came late in the race on Lap 87, when Nemechek made a move into Turn 1 while AJ Allmendinger was passing Bubba Wallace. He hit Wallace in the right rear and spun him, effectively ending his chances of a strong finish. That incident likely contributed more to his frustration than the exchange with Bell itself.
Bubba Wallace’s spotter clears air after Christopher Bell confrontation

Amid the speculation, NASCAR insider Steven Taranto explained the situation. He suggested the tension may have stemmed from a pit entry sequence eight laps from the finish. According to him, Bubba Wallace was called to the pit while running ahead of Christopher Bell, but Bell pulled alongside him before being informed.
That forced Wallace to delay his pit stop and lose track position. However, that interpretation was quickly shut down by Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft. Responding directly, Kraft stated on X:
“You shouldn’t speculate. Bubba wasn’t mad at Bell.”
The clarification undercut much of the online narrative that had built around the clip. Radio communication from Wallace further supports that view. The 23XI Racing No. 23 used the mic only once in the closing laps, and it reflected general frustration with the race rather than targeting Christopher Bell. There was no indication of anger directed at the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing driver.
Despite the noise around the incident, Wallace’s race pace was relatively solid at Watkins Glen. He ran a median position of P7 for long stretches of the race. Still, the late spin and strategy setbacks limited him to just nine points on the day, while Bell managed to collect 20.
