Roman Reigns may have retained his World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Backlash 2026, but he suffered the wrath of his cousin Jacob Fatu, who lost his cool following the match. The Original Tribal Chief has now claimed that someone like Fatu should have been in WWE in the first place.
Reigns and Fatu had a grueling encounter at Backlash that ended predictably with the former coming on top. While nobody expected The Samoan Werewolf to win anyway, it’s safe to say he rose up to the occasion with a commanding performance. And with the way he attacked Roman Reigns and the referee following the match, it signals he’s far from done chasing the gold.
Thanks for the submission!
Reigns has now blasted Jacob Fatu for his conduct in a post-match interview, where he said that Backlash 2026 was Fatu’s last night in WWE. He also added that the former US Champion should have been hired by the company.
“This is why we never should have let Jacob in this company. You don’t belong here Jacob. There is no order with you. This is your last night here.”
Considering he laid his hands on a WWE official, there’s a chance Fatu could face the repercussions by SmackDown GM Nick Aldis suspending him from TV.
Roman Reigns is set to take a sabbatical in June
While Reigns is expected to stick around for the entire month of May and possibly even wrestle at either Saturday Night’s Live XLVI or Clash in Italy 2026, he’s rumored to be taking a break in June. Since he’s not planned to wrestle at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, WWE has reportedly decided not to include him in the build to the Premium Live Event.
This news is sure to disappoint fans who expected Roman Reigns to have a regular, full-time schedule following his title triumph at WrestleMania 42. Heading into Mania, Reigns had promised that he would become a regular if he won the title. Alas, this doesn’t seem to be the case for now. However, one can hope the viewers get to see him regularly in the latter part of the year.
