Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, went over Kyle Busch’s controversial retaliation against John Hunter Nemechek at Texas. Kraft believes Busch should be penalised for intentionally wrecking.
Busch had a rather decent run at Texas up until the end. In his first race with new crew chief Andy Street, Busch was legitimately a top-10 car on pure pace. He even drove up to fourth at one point.
Thanks for the submission!
However, with less than two laps to go, Busch had a back-and-forth with Nemechek that spoiled his momentum. He appeared to cut in front of Nemecheck, but had a minor skirmish going into it.
The following turn, an angry Busch shot up the track right into the door of the No.42 Toyota. They both went off the racing line and lost a bunch of spots as a result.
On the latest episode of Door Bumber Clear, Kraft shared his take on the matter.
“Kyle’s driving off of either the seams on the racetrack or the car in front of John Hunter because he can’t see John Hunter,” Kraft said, “If the car in front of John Hunter is on the wall and Kyle’s kind of following that trace, he’s thinking he’s got another half a car with to go up and John hunter’s down just a little bit now, they’re hooked in the fence. I think that’s just a racing deal,”
“If anybody’s going to get a penalty and it should not be a suspension because it looked pretty intentional, I mean, maybe it wasn’t. Maybe they can show that the car was broke at some point,” he added. (via X/Dorty Mo Media)
Kyle Busch took to X and shared his side of things. He simulation visuals from the pit wall and explained his reasoning.
John Hunter Nemechek bashes Kyle Busch after Texas wreck
John Hunter Nemechek was left to rue a P21 finish after battling for 12th with Kyle Busch. The Legacy Motor Club driver wasn’t pleased with Busch’s antics and shared his frustrations online.
“Not freaking clear. great day going. and just got wrecked. what an a**,” Nemechek wrote on X.
Nemechek was also spotted with a bloody nose after the race. NASCAR analyst Bob Pockrass clarified that it was just a racing occurence and had nothing to do with Kyle Busch.
Notably, Busch celebrated his 41st birthday this Texas weekend. The Richard Childress Racing driver is in a contract year with an extension not yet signed. Many believe his time with RCR may very well come to an end. Dale Earnhardt Jr. echoed the sentiment and predicted a landing spot with Spire Motorsports.
To his credit, Busch’s only win this year comes from a Truck Series race driving for Spire at Echopart Speedway.
