WWE legend Big Show signed with AEW in 2021. The 54-year-old has hardly wrestled for the Tony Khan-led promotion since joining them. However, he is one of their biggest stars. He goes by his real name in All Elite Wrestling, which is Paul Wight.
Big Show has achieved immense success throughout his in-ring career. He won several titles in WCW and WWE. He has been wrestling since the early 90s, and he is truly one of the greatest of all time. Although he is currently inactive as a wrestler, he has a new role in the AEW.
The former WWE Champion was recently interviewed by Virgin Radio UK’s TFI Unplugged. In this conversation, the legend said that his new role involves mentoring young talent and providing them with guidance.
“I have a great opportunity with All Elite Wrestling which was very important to me. To be able to help mentor some of the younger talent when they want it, tell them some stories to help them avoid some troubles in life, do the commentating where I can help explain what they’re doing and help develop their characters. And then get in the ring cause there are things that I can do in the ring working with them that I know will help them.” he said.
He also said that he likes to show up once in a while and get a reaction from the AEW crowd.
“I show up once in a while. Everybody’s happy. I come over here, get a nice little pop from the crowd,” said the WWE legend.
AEW star Paul Wight (fka Big Show) on what he is proud of
Insight’s Chris Van Vliet recently interviewed Paul Wight earlier this year. In this interaction, the legend said that he is proud of the respect he has earned from his peers throughout the years.
“I would honestly have to say respect of the guys that I worked with. I never effed anybody over behind their back. I never intentionally hurt anybody,” he said.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 54-year-old. Hopefully, fans will see him in the squared circle in the near future.
