Following their exit from WWE, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have been heavily linked to a move to AEW, and now a 40-year-old All Elite talent has hinted at such a move.

No matter how you slice it, the departure of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, a.k.a. the New Day, from WWE is a shocking yet monumental event. According to reports, the former 13-time Tag Team champions mutually parted ways with the Stamford-based promotion after TKO allegedly asked them to restructure their current deals. The duo, who officially left the company on May 2, had been plying their trade in World Wrestling Entertainment for over a decade, with Kofi Kingston’s tenure specifically crossing the two-decade mark. Following their departure, the legendary tag team was naturally linked to a move to AEW, with many of AEW’s stars hinting at their arrival. One of the latest talents to make such a move is Shawn Dean.

Shawn Dean has been performing in AEW since 2021 and is part of the popular faction associated with Shane Taylor promotions. Currently, the 40-year-old is more prominently featured on the sister promotion, Ring of Honor. Last night, Dean teased New Day’s arrival at the Jacksonville-based promotion on X by sharing a GIF that read “It’s a new day.”

Another top AEW star recently addressed New Day’s departure from WWE

In the wake of New Day’s departure, several professional wrestlers took time to address the situation and praise their work in the WWE. One such star was Tommaso Ciampa, a former WWE talent and current AEW talent. On Instagram, Ciampa reflected on his time working with Kingston and Woods and expressed interest in what they do next.

“Congrats to both guys on such incredible careers. I can’t wait to see the next chapter. I often told myself throughout my career to “take the photo”… it’s something I’m becoming better at as of late. But I do regret missing so many great photo opportunities early on (…) Woods and I first crossed paths at the ECWA Super 8 about 16 years ago. And the other two photos were taken right after TLC SummerSlam. I think the photos and the cast of characters speak for themselves. Lots of fantastic performers and people,” he said.

It will be interesting to see if Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston will eventually join All Elite Wrestling.
