Leon Slater is set to become the longest-reigning TNA X-Division Champion, apart from being the youngest one. However, he has a big obstacle in the No. 1 contender, who is locked in to dethrone him in two weeks from now.
Slater’s opponent is Cedric Alexander, who will clash with him on May 14 in a two-out-of-three falls match in Sacramento. As the bout was made official on the recent Thursday Night iMPACT, Cedric had something to say about it. In a post on X, Alexander wrote that he is sick of people thinking he has something to prove.
Thanks for the submission!
“I am SICK of people thinking I have something to prove!! I am a PRYME professional wrestler One of the best in this planet And your soon to be NEW X Division Champion after I pin the false champion twice in one night!!” Alexander tweeted.

Leon Slater vs. Ricochet being called off was to avoid pissing off WWE
On the “Coach and Bro Show,” Vince Russo said WWE was the main reason why TNA Wrestling President Carlos Silva pulled Leon Slater from facing AEW’s Ricochet at the WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow. However, Russo claims that this match not happening was for the best for TNA, as it would “piss off” WWE.
“What I’m hearing is he’s (Silva) gotta make decisions that are best for TNA,” Russo said. “Well, the best decision for TNA is not to piss off the WWE. That’s what he’s talking about because, obviously, he wanted to do this (the AEW vs. TNA matches). If it were up to him, he would have gone forward with it; he made that clear. But, at the end of the day, someone said, ‘Brother, you ain’t doing that,’ and those are people we can’t piss off because if we do, it’s going to be bad for TNA business.”
Per Russo, if Silva had gone through with it without bothering WWE, the match would’ve happened. But to continue doing business with WWE, TNA needed not to compete with AEW talent, even if the Jacksonville-based promotion was not remotely close to it.
