With Diablo 4’s Lord of Hatred expansion, the Necromancer isn’t the only one running around with minions. The expansion adds a new class, Warlock, a spell caster/summoner hybrid class that allows you to either summon various Demons to rampage around, while using powerful skills to improve their damage. However, while fun, resource management for Warlock can also be a hassle.
Depending on the type of Demon you summon, Warlock will either use Wrath or Dominance, which can make choices look confusing while leveling. This guide will help you understand the basics of Summoner Warlock in Diablo 4 Season 13, along with everything you’ll need to reach max rank quickly.
Warlock leveling setup for Diablo 4 Season 13

The primary skills for the Summoner Warlock build are Command Fallen and Bombardment, as they create a good loop for generating and spending Wrath. Using the Wrath node for Command Fallen, you can generate Wrath, while Brutality and Additional Demon for Bombardment make sure you’re getting the best out of spending the resource.
As you level up, unlock Rampage to summon a Greater Demon by spending Dominance. The Demon has a chance to Eviscerate Elites, and when using Sigil of Summons, the skill will help you keep your Demon active for longer. Lastly, for the Ultimate skill, both Terror Swarm and Fiend of Abaddon are viable picks as they come under the Greater Demon category.
Here’s the Skill point investment progression:
- Command Fallen
- Dominance Command Fallen
- Wrath Command Fallen
- Bombardment
- Focused Target Bombardment
- Additional Demon Bombardment
- Brutality Bombardment
- Rampage
- Elite Hit Chance Rampage
- Lesser Demon Wrath Rampage
- Sigil of Summons
- Damage Sigil of Summons
- Summon Hellwyrm Sigil of Summons
- Sigil of Summons x14
- Bombardment x14
- Command Fallen x14
- Rampage x3
- Nether Step
- Extra Charge Nether Step
- Vacuum Swap Nether Step
- Cooldown Sigil of Summons
- Shockwave Rampage
- Mega Lunatic Command Fallen
- Rampage
- Terror Swarm
- Lesser Demons Terror Swarm
- Vulnerable Terror Swarm
- Searing Infestation Terror Swarm
- Rampage x10
- Terror Swarm x4
In addition to skills, you also want to utilize the Legion Shard (Soul Shard) with Evisceration Fragment. The shard itself grants Cooldown Rate and Cast Speed for Lesser Demon skills when you use a Greater Demon skill. Additionally, when 200 of your Lesser Demons die, it removes the cast cost for a Greater Demon. As for the fragment, Eviscerating an enemy improves the movement speed of all Demons and makes them a priority target.

Best Aspects to use with the Summoner Warlock leveling build in Diablo 4

Here are the best aspects to equip on gear to make the leveling process much smoother.
- Sadistic Aspect: When killing your Demons, you have a 50% chance for each to count as two kills.
- Undying Aspect: Casting a skill heals you for 3% of your maximum life. Double while injured.
- Demonic Aspect: Each hit with the Demonology skill increases the damage you deal for all Demonology skills by 3.3%, up to 65%.
- Aspect of Inner Calm: While standing still, deal up to 75% increased damage.
- Protecting Aspect: Getting hit forms an immunity bubble around you for 6 seconds, with a cooldown of 90 seconds.
Best Mercenary choice for Summoner Warlock leveling build in Diablo 4
Use Varyana as your primary Mercenary. Her Bloodthirst ability grants additional Attack and Movement Speed, which also affects your summons. Paired with the Evisceration Fragment, your Demons will be zooming across the map, taking down enemies a lot more quickly.
For reinforcement, Raheir is still the best defensive option. While using Bastion, he can take a lot of hits in your place, and with Iron Wolf’s Virtue, he can heal 25% of your maximum HP every 30 seconds.
Best Talismans for Summoner Warlock leveling build in Diablo 4

Talismans are a new itemization layer in Diablo 4 Season 13 and provide an easy boost to your skills with minimal effort. They can roll with up to +3 for various skills, and you can equip up to six of them, allowing a potential +16 to certain skills. If you’re looking to push the Torment levels, then having good Talismans is necessary. You’ll get plenty through the campaign, so here are a few affixes you need to focus on:
- +(1-3) to Demonology skills
- +(1-2) to all skills
- All Stats
- Bonus Kill Experience
Many of the Talisman also come with Set Bonuses. I’d recommend the Slaughter Set that grants Damage Reduction with Increased Damage for a 2-pc set, and Damage against Elites with Damage Reduction from Elites for a 3-pc set. There’s also Fulcrum of Mefis that has up to a 5-piece set bonus based around damage with Demonology skills.
