Punjab Kings (PBKS) ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is a fun-loving person, and he proved it once again amid the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The leg-spinner hilariously asked the team’s co-owner, Preity Zinta, to give him an opening opportunity during a question-and-answer session with the Bollywood actress on social media. Zinta also replied in a funny manner, saying she would agree to his request, but only after the conclusion of this season.
Days after PBKS chased down 265 against Delhi Capitals (DC), Zinta wrote on X:
“Today seems like a perfect day for an impromptu #pzchat! Bring on the questions, folks.”
Chahal replied:
“Mam ek match mein open batting karne ka chance mil jaaye toh (Ma’m, see if I can get an opportunity to open the innings.).”
Zinta replied:
“For sure, Yuzi. Anything for you. IPL Khatam hone do, uske baad (let the IPL finish, and then we’ll do that) whichever match you like, I’m sure Prabh & Priyansh won’t mind then.”
With 225 scalps in 181 games, Chahal is the leading wicket-taker in the IPL. Retained for a whopping INR 18 crore, the 35-year-old has picked up four wickets in six innings at an economy rate of 9.76 this season.
Notably, Preity Zinta has been a regular in the stands for PBKS this season.
“Calm, inclusive and accessible” – Preity Zinta lauds PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer amid IPL 2026 heroics
Preity Zinta further lauded PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer for his leadership qualities, calling him a strategic leader who is intelligent, calm, and accessible. She wrote in a separate post on X:
“He is an inspiring & strategic leader that leads by example. Intelligent, calm, inclusive & accessible to the whole team. On a fun note, he is also incredible with kids; that’s why my kids lovingly call him Shreyas Bhaiya and adore him.”
After guiding PBKS to the IPL 2025 final, Shreyas Iyer has led the team to six wins in seven games, including a rain-abandoned game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), this season. They will look to continue their good form against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their home ground on Tuesday, April 28.
On the batting front, Iyer has scored 279 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 186, including four half-centuries this year. In his last outing, the right-hander slammed an unbeaten 71 off 36 deliveries as PBKS chased down 265 with seven balls to spare. During his knock, he also completed 4,000 runs in the T20 league.
