A few hours ago, WWE released over 20 of its superstars from their contracts. Now, Chief Content Officer Triple H has made a major announcement following the Stamford-based promotion’s roster cuts.

The global juggernaut began releasing wrestlers on Friday, April 24, less than a week after WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. Although some wrestlers leave at different times during the year, either voluntarily or not, WWE usually conducts a large-scale release once a year. At the beginning of a new season after ‘Mania, the company made another roster change.

Recently, on his official X account, Triple H made an important announcement. The Game announced that World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns will return to Tampa, Florida, for the next WWE Premium Live Event, Backlash.

“The OTC returns to Tampa, FL…#WWEBacklash is LIVE from the @benchmark_arena in 2 weeks,” Triple H wrote.

Last Sunday, in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night Two, the OTC defeated CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship. The following night on WWE RAW, the champion was confronted by his cousin, Jacob Fatu. Since Reigns is now confirmed for Backlash, it will be interesting to see who emerges as his challenger.

Will Triple H bring back Kairi Sane after fans’ backlash?

Last night, several top WWE stars were released, including Kairi Sane. Before this, The Pirate Princess was involved in an ongoing storyline on WWE RAW that was supposed to pay off around the WrestleMania 42 season.

The storyline centered on a lengthy feud involving Asuka’s bullying of Sane, IYO SKY’s attempts to intervene, and the history between the former Damage CTRL members. WWE had been building this story gradually, perhaps with plans for it to culminate in SKY defeating Asuka in a match and freeing Sane from the toxic friendship.

Fans believed that Kairi Sane’s frustration would eventually boil over. This could have set the stage for Sane to reunite with her former ally. The storyline had emotional stakes involving mentorship, betrayal, and loyalty, which excited WWE fans. However, Sane’s sudden release ended those plans and wasted the story’s potential.

It seems like many people were unhappy with this situation. Fans criticized Triple H online for releasing Kairi Sane, along with some of their favorite stars. Will The Game consider bringing back The Pirate Princess? Only time will tell.
