WWE has suddenly made a series of mass releases from the company. Fans have reacted to one of these and have seemingly speculated on their next destination. They believe they could finally make their way to AEW.

Before signing with the Stamford-based promotion in 2024, it was reported that the Motor City Machine Guns had spoken to Tony Khan and AEW, and were seemingly on their way to signing with the promotion. However, this did not end up being the case, and they ended up going a different direction.

Unfortunately, earlier today, it was revealed that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin had been released by WWE. They have been with the promotion since October 2024, but that run now ends today. Fans have now discussed whether going directly to AEW may have been the better move for them.

Other fans did not focus on this, and they believed that they would now get to become All-Elite after the end of the 90-day no-compete clause of their contracts. Some fans felt disappointed with their run as a whole, as it was something that started strong, but did not end up going as expected.

A former AEW star was part of WWE’s releases

A large number of superstars from the Stamford-based promotion were suddenly released following WrestleMania 42. While some of these were surprises, some names on the list were inactive within the company. There have been more than 20 departures as of writing.

One of the surprise releases was Aleister Black and Zelina Vega. He departed from AEW last year and made his way back to WWE in April. He has gotten to feud with some top stars on the roster, including Damian Priest. He then began an on-screen partnership with his wife, Zelina Vega. Unfortunately, both of them were part of this year’s mass releases.
