How to quickly defeat Sentinel in Pragmata (Boss guide)

The Sentinel in Pragmata is the fifth boss in the game and the first one to show up covered in filament mass, the same blocking material players have been cleansing throughout the Central Port section. That detail changes how the fight works compared to everything before it. The fight is more aggressive than earlier bosses, but it is manageable once the attack patterns and priority order are understood.

With that said, here is how you can quickly defeat Sentinel in Pragmata.

How to beat Sentinel in Pragmata fast (Boss guide)

Despite coming across as aggressive in the opening moments, the Sentinel is one of the more manageable late-game bosses once the cleanse-first approach clicks. The attack patterns are readable, the pull counter is simple once known, and the stagger windows are generous enough that both should land comfortably.

If you have been moving through Central Port, you will find the Sentinel more approachable than it first appears, particularly after handling the filament mass.

Gear worth bringing into this fight

Two items are particularly useful for this encounter against Sentinel in Pragmata:

  • Decoy Gun: This gives some breathing room when health is low or the situation needs a reset. The Sentinel will shift attention toward the decoy briefly, creating a window to recover or reposition. It is more useful here than in several earlier fights.
  • Riot Blaster: This can knock the Sentinel down, opening up extra damage time while it is grounded. Any opportunity to extend damage windows in this fight is worth taking, and the right blaster reliably creates one.

Battle strategy

The Sentinel enters the fight coated in filament mass. While that coating is active, attempting to hack produces a notably worse experience because purple nodes appear throughout the hacking sequence that slow the process down significantly. Most of these nodes cannot be avoided, so trying to hack early is just wasting time and leaving the player exposed.

The correct order is to cleanse the Sentinel with Diana twice before attempting to hack. Once the filament mass is cleared, hacking becomes much faster, and the fight opens up properly. Rushing the hack before cleansing is one of the main reasons the fight drags out longer than it needs to.

Handling the fast slash attacks and aerial dashes

Most of the Sentinel’s attack kit is built around a fast, hack-and-slash type, along with some rocket strikes that come in quick. The good news is that the majority of them are avoidable with timely dashes and general movement. Staying reactive and not standing still is the baseline requirement for keeping health up through this phase.

The Sentinel in Pragmata can also fly and dash directly towards you. These aerial movements cover ground quickly, so watching for the windup and dashing to the side or away before impact is the cleanest way to avoid taking hits from them. Getting caught flat-footed during an aerial dash is one of the more punishing ways to lose health in this fight.

As the Sentinel approaches half health, the fight changes. It introduces a pull mechanic that drags you toward it. Getting pulled in and taking the follow-up damage is a quick way to get hurt badly at a point in the fight where health management matters most.

To counter the move, you must dash in the opposite direction toward the camera when the pull starts. That direction specifically counteracts the pull force. Dashing sideways or toward the Sentinel does not work the same way, so the camera-facing direction is the one to commit to when this move triggers.

How to tackle explosion circles on the ground

The Sentinel in Pragmata marks sections of the ground with circles that trigger explosions. Standing inside one when it detonates deals damage, and at the pace this fight moves, taking unnecessary hits from avoidable explosions adds up. The markers appear with enough visual warning to read and step out before they go off.

Keeping track of where the circles appear alongside managing the boss position is the main multitasking challenge during this phase.

Fill the stagger meter and use close-up attacks

When the stagger meter fills up, do not miss the window. Initiating the close-up attack at this point deals a solid chunk of bonus damage. The stagger window is available at least twice during the full fight, so making sure both opportunities get used rather than letting them expire is important for keeping the fight efficient and winning it against Sentinel in Pragmata.
