John Cena is back in WWE! 125 days removed from his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the greatest of all time officially made his return at the Hall of Fame Red Carpet.
As you likely know by now, John Cena will officially host WrestleMania 42 on both nights. The announcement came as a big surprise, as it had only been a few months since his retirement. Perhaps some fans speculated that we wouldn’t be seeing Cena on WWE television throughout 2026, although he technically signed a contract after the end of his in-ring career. So in that regard, it makes sense that he would appear for such a role. Despite fans being happy to see the GOAT, WWE was criticized as many felt they only called Cena due to the declining and slow ticket sales. That has been a big topic of discussion, although nothing has shown that Cena’s appearance has directly led to a spike in ticket sales.
Thanks for the submission!
You can see in the video below as the iconic John Cena made his return to WWE after months away at the Hall of Fame red carpet:
When Cena spoke to Hall of Fame hosts Peter Rosenberg and Jackie Redmond, he was asked about whether he saw any of the matches from the retirement tour. He admitted that he didn’t, except for one match, and that might surprise you.
You may have thought about his epic classic against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2025, but in reality, the only match he saw from his retirement tour was against The Phenomenal AJ Styles at WWE Crown Jewel 2025. Not only this, but Cena admitted that he bawled his eyes out when watching that match.
It’s a touching tribute because for those who remember the match, they likely recall Alicia Taylor giving Styles a grand intro before the match, paying homage to his TNA roots.
