A popular AEW star has expressed interest in competing outside the company more frequently moving forward. The star wants to compete in Japan for NJPW.
Will Ospreay recently returned to AEW at Revolution last month. The star was sidelined for several months due to a neck surgery. After his return, he immediately went after the Death Riders, who had put him on the shelf last year. The British wrestling sensation also recently competed at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual event Sakura Genesis 2026 held at the Ryōgoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan, on April 4. He teamed up with HENARE and Great‑O‑Khan of the United Empire to take on Yuya Uemura, Taichi, and El Desperado. This marked the star’s first win in the promotion after 882 days.
During an exclusive interview with Tokyo Sports, the star mentioned that he wanted to wrestle more matches in Japan this year. He clarified that he would not be in the country for Dominion in June at Osaka-jo Hall since the star was marrying his longtime girlfriend and AEW star Alex Windsor the day after the show. However, the Aerial Assassin stated that he had special feelings for Japan and wanted to be more involved in matches there and spend time with members of the United Empire.
Will Ospreay has a huge match at AEW Dynasty
The 32-year-old star will be heading to AEW Dynasty in hopes of capturing the Continental Championship. He will face Jon Moxley for the gold at the pay-per-view this week.
This rivalry between the two stars had been heating up since Ospreay returned at Revolution. He has been on a warpath and continuously attacked the Death Riders members in the lead-up to the event. The tensions reached a boiling point this week on Dynamite.
The show kicked off with a huge backstage brawl. Ospreay often had the numbers disadvantage while going up against the Death Riders. This week he ambushed Jon Moxley in the backstage area and the Death Riders joined in the melee to put a six-on-one beatdown on the challenger. However, a car rolled in and Ospreay’s fiance, Alex Windsor ushered in the United Empire members to join the brawl. The group caught the Death Riders unaware and battered them in the parking area.
