Former Brazil and Real Madrid striker Ronaldo Nazaro praised Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham after the Herons unveiled their new “Nu” stadium on Saturday (April 4).
Ronaldo – who won the FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan in 2002 – was one of several high-profile dignitaries in attendance as Beckham’s team played out a 2-2 MLS home draw with Austin FC.
Thanks for the submission!
While club captain Lionel Messi scored, the honour of scoring the first goal at the Nu Stadium went to Austin defender Guilhermo Biro, who opened the scoring inside six minutes before Messi equalised for the Herons four minutes later.
Jayden Nelson’s 53rd-minute strike helped Austin reclaim the lead, only for veteran Miami striker Luis Suarez restoring parity eight minutes from time as a share of the spoils ensued.
Praising the Herons’ new stadium and its infrastructure, Ronaldo posted on Instagram while sharing a picture of himself with Beckham:
“20 years ago, you dared to dream bigger than the game. Today, you open doors to a new era. Proud to witness you turning vision into legacy and changing the game in the US again. Congratulations brother, I’m proud of you!”
Beckham replied to the post, thanking the Brazilian legend’s presence for the momentous occasion:
“Love you my friend thank you for being there on such a special night”
Following the stalemate, Javier Mascherano’s side are fourth in the MLS Eastern Conference, two points behind leaders Nashville (13) after six games.
How did Ronaldo Nazario and David Beckham fare together?

Ronaldo Nazario and David Beckham were teammates at Real Madrid for four seasons in the 2010s, between 2003 and 2007, when Bekham arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu from Manchester United in the summer of 2003.
The two featured together for the Spanish giants in 104 games (both players being on the field at the same time), contributing 11 joint goal contributions, with Ronaldo scoring nine times.
Their joint partnership ended when Ronaldo left for AC Milan in January 2007 and Beckham followed suit a few months later, joining LA Galaxy in MLS, after winning his first La Liga title as Madrid won the competition for the first time since 2003.
