Perez Hilton has been hospitalized for another “emergency surgery”, just weeks after a life-threatening medical crisis that left him in the hospital for 21 days. Hilton shared the update in a video posted to X on April 3, where he revealed that he had been admitted to Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas.
In his video, Hilton first explained that he had returned to the same hospital where he had previously been treated for sepsis, expressing both gratitude and concern about his current condition.
“I’m back at the best hospital in Las Vegas, Southern Hills. I’ve already seen some of the nurses that took care of me for 21 days when I was here fighting and beating sepsis, thanks to these amazing doctors, nurses, and God. And now I’m back and I have to have emergency surgery tomorrow,” he said.
Perez Hilton is a single father to three children, all born via gestational surrogacy. His eldest son, Mario Armando III, was born in 2013, followed by his daughters Mia Alma in 2015 and Mayte Amor in 2017. All three children are genetically related to him and share the same anonymous egg donor (as per the October 21, 2017, HuffPost article)
In the video, Hilton further explained that he was “so happy” and “grateful” because, although he was admitted to the hospital again, it was a “blessing from God” as the doctors had “caught” the underlying cause behind his ailment “early.”
“I went to see my surgeon today-really good timing, God- and last night I started having real soreness and pain in one of my legs. And this morning it got way worse, I couldn’t even walk, I had to use my walker. So when my surgeon saw that, he sent me to the hospital to get checked out, have an ultrasound, and see if I had a blood clot,” he detailed.
Perez Hilton also shared that doctors diagnosed him with “deep vein thrombosis”, a serious condition involving a blood clot, and stressed how fortunate he felt that it had been detected early. He underscored the potential severity of the situation, explaining that the clot could have traveled to his lungs or heart, which “could have been real bad.”
“So tomorrow I’m having a thrombectomy where they’re knocking me out. I’m being put under in an emergency surgery, and they’re going to remove the fully occluded blood clot, which is massive. It goes from my groin to about almost my foot, like three quarters down my calf,” he added.
In the remainder of his video, Perez Hilton expressed confidence in his medical team at Southern Hills Hospital, describing them as “amazing.” He also suggested that the procedure would be manageable, and even referred to it as a “piece of cake.”
He also leaned heavily on his faith, saying that “God has gotten me,” while asking followers to keep him in their thoughts and prayers. He encouraged supporters to show their support by dropping prayer emojis in the comments. He promised to provide updates after the surgery, ending his message by telling viewers he loved them and would see them “on the other side.”
Perez Hilton opens up about his 21-day hospitalization after a severe health scare

Perez Hilton recently opened up about a frightening health ordeal that left him hospitalized for three weeks, sharing details of the experience in a candid YouTube video posted on March 23. In the video, Hilton reflected on the seriousness of the situation, describing it as both a wake-up call and a life-altering moment.
“My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days, and this is the most important video that I have ever shared…It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Perez Hilton said in the video.
He went on to explain that what initially seemed like a routine illness quickly escalated due to a critical mistake in how he took his medication.
“However, big but, I didn’t take any of my medication with food…I never have,” he said.
However, the medicines were extremely hard on his stomach lining and intestines, and because of taking them on an empty stomach, the podcaster developed an “ulcer”, a “perforation”, and “sepsis”. After intense stomach pain from his underlying issues, he was later hospitalized.
“The first few days were a lot of pain and constant tests. Because they couldn’t find where the perforation was. Eventually, after five days, I ended up having laparoscopic surgery. Surgery where they don’t cut you up, but they miraculously make these incisions,” Perez Hilton added
He explained that surgeons used cameras to move through his internal organs and locate the source of the infection, essentially flipping his organs and cleaning out “so much infection” present. He also revealed that his lungs had to be drained as part of the treatment.
Perez Hilton further described how his condition worsened during his hospital stay, saying his body “just kept falling apart,” and noting that his heart became unstable, requiring additional medication to control it.
During his time in the hospital, he also developed a secondary infection, which he acknowledged was a common occurrence in such situations. It took nearly two weeks before he was able to eat normally again, underscoring how physically draining the ordeal had been.
The podcaster further described the recovery process as “such a slow process,” involving two weeks of intense sickness followed by a final week of gradual improvement. However, he noted that the last stretch felt especially difficult, calling it “hell” after already enduring two weeks in the hospital.
After being discharged, Perez Hilton shared that his recovery continued at home, where he received medication intravenously through a PICC line in his arm for 10 days, explaining that this method is more effective than taking medication orally.
He also spoke emotionally about reuniting with his children, describing an overwhelming moment filled with relief and emotion. He recalled having the “biggest, most cathartic group hug,” with “tears and tears and tears,” adding that his children had been deeply worried about him.
Despite the severity of the experience, Hilton said it has led him to reassess his lifestyle and priorities. He emphasized that the ordeal pushed him to focus more on his health, get adequate sleep, and spend meaningful time with his family.
“I hope this video can be a cautionary tale to some of you. Take medication with food. That’s very important…Take medication with food. Don’t have it on an empty stomach. Don’t end up like me in the hospital for 21 days,” Perez Hilton told his fans.
