The SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) got off the mark in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday, April 2. The Orange Army beat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 65 runs at the Eden Gardens.

A collective batting first saw Hyderabad post a decent 226/8. Although the Knight Riders started the chase in spirited fashion, they lost wickets at regular intervals to fall behind the asking rate and eventually lose in tame fashion.

On that note, here are SRH’s player ratings from their IPL 2026 clash against KKR.

Abhishek Sharma: 8/10

Abhishek looked more fluent than he has looked in recent times. His takedown of Varun Chakaravarthy set the tone for an excellent powerplay.

Travis Head: 8/10

Head’s blitz got SRH off to a flying start. He picked apart the KKR pacers and put the opposition under serious pressure.

Ishan Kishan: 5.5/10

Kishan struck a few boundaries off Kartik Tyagi but fell soon after, caught off a short and wide delivery. The SRH skipper should have done better given the platform the openers set.

Heinrich Klaasen: 7/10

Klaasen looked rusty throughout his innings and didn’t seem capable of getting under the ball to send it out of the park. He made a fifty, but it was far from convincing.

Nitish Kumar Reddy: 8/10

Reddy played a valuable cameo, although he too took some time to get going. The all-rounder wasn’t given the new ball, but in the middle overs, he made a couple of important breakthroughs to effectively seal the victory for his team.

Salil Arora: 2/10

Arora bagged a first-ball duck. It might seem a bit harsh to say, but he doesn’t seem ready for the IPL level at this point.

Aniket Verma: 4/10

Aniket played a nice lofted extra cover drive but managed to find the safe hands of Rinku Singh at long-off. The execution was off.

Shivang Kumar: 6.5/10

Shivang’s figures didn’t make for pretty reading, but he bowled decently. The left-arm wrist-spinner used his googly to great effect, threw himself about on the field, and even chipped in with a boundary off Blessing Muzarabani. There’s a lot to work with.

Harsh Dubey: 8/10

Dubey played a small cameo in the first innings and claimed the all-important wicket of Finn Allen. If not for his powerplay spell, KKR may have sealed the chase inside the first six overs.

Eshan Malinga [IP]: 7/10

Malinga had a quiet outing after coming in as the impact player. He helped himself to two wickets.

Jaydev Unadkat: 8/10

Unadkat continued his positive matchup against Ajinkya Rahane and picked up three scalps on the night. He even grabbed a couple of catches.

David Payne: 1/10

Payne had a disastrous outing. He was taken apart by Allen in his first over, with his lack of pace being alarming. It would be a surprise if SRH retained him in the side for the next game.
