The Valley’s Janet and Jason Caperna aren’t afraid to mix reality TV and politics — even if they know not everyone is going to be a fan.

“Jason and I are both very liberal people, and we’re very outspoken about politics and things like that,” Janet exclusively shared with Us Weekly while celebrating season 3 of Bravo’s reality show. “I think that there are a lot of people who just are never going to like us or agree with us because of our stance on a lot of issues, and how much we care about human rights and minorities and people.”

Without naming names, Jason explained that “certain people” are “not going to align with those values, and I think you just kind of have to let that go and care less about what everybody thinks and really care about.”

As Janet and Jason begin their third season on The Valley, the opinions they care about most — or, arguably, at all — come from the pair’s family members and very close friends.

Janet Caperna is clearing the air about her appearance on The Valley, denying that she and husband Jason Caperna were cast because she was a Scheana superfan. “I went up to her and was like, ‘You’re Scheana [Shay] from Vanderpump, let’s take a picture.’ We ended up spending the entire day talking,” Janet, 35, said […]

“The people that we respect and care about, do they agree with our actions?” Janet asked. “And if that’s a ‘yes,’ then we’re OK with that. We don’t have to be liked by everybody.”

The Valley cast aims to reset the vibe on the latest season of the hit reality TV show, especially as they navigate some major life changes. While many stars like Kristen Doute, Luke Broderick, Brittany Cartwright, Jasmine Goode, Nia Sanchez and Danny Booko deal with the realities of new babies, breakups or bold beginnings, the drama — of course — is far from over.

While viewers will have to watch what happens to see if the show spotlights political themes, Janet and Jason acknowledged that there are some political differences within the cast.

“Jason and I are people who posted about Alex Pretti and Renée Good,” Janet explained, referencing two American citizens killed by ICE federal agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota. “Those were things that we cared about putting out there publicly on our social media. … I think we can respect each other from afar and say our values are different here, and our views are different.”

Jason added, “To be fair, though, that’s not really the crux of the issue. … Now it comes down to more core beliefs and more core of who you are as a person. But that said, I can be cordial.”

As season 3 kicks off, viewers can expect to see Janet try to rebuild relationships with some cast members, including Kristen and Jasmine.

When it comes to Nia and Danny, those relationships are unlikely to be repaired overnight.

“I wish them well. I just think there are certain people that are just not for us,”Janet said of her fellow costars. “I would like to coexist with them and all of that, but I just think at the end of the day, our values and views are very different on the world.”
