The Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the second match of TATA IPL 2026 on Sunday, March 29, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
With Mangesh Yadav not featuring for RCB, we were forced into making a couple of post-toss changes. We opted to select Abhinandan Singh in Mangesh’s place and used the 0.5 credits freed up to upgrade Deepak Chahar to Trent Boult.
As for the match itself, it was a disappointing start to the season for our team, with the non-selection of Ishan Kishan costing us.

Players playing in Match 1: Virat Kohli (RCB) (BAT) (11 Credits), Abhishek Sharma (SRH) (ALL) (10.5 Credits), Eshan Malinga (SRH) (BOWL) (8.5 Credits), and Abhinandan Singh (RCB) (BOWL) (7 Credits).
Captain: Abhishek Sharma. | Vice-Captain: Virat Kohli.
Total Points: 220.
With four players from this fixture already on the team, we’re electing to make just the one transfer.
Transfer Deadline: Sunday, March 29, 7.30 pm IST.
Note: The suggested team may change depending on the toss or other unexpected team news. Any such changes will be updated for the next match day.
Transfers
Transfers Made: 1 | Transfers Remaining: 159.
1) Virat Kohli (RCB) (BAT) (11 Credits) – OUT | Suryakumar Yadav (MI) (BAT) (10.5 Credits) – IN
Barring MI’s jinx of not winning their opening IPL fixture in the last 13 seasons, there seems to be little in KKR’s favor, at least on paper, ahead of this clash. MI looks set to dominate, especially with the bat, against an injury-ravaged KKR bowling lineup.
We’re opting to keep things simple by bringing in Suryakumar Yadav in place of Virat Kohli, with RCB’s next clash 10 games away in M11. While we briefly considered bringing in Hardik Pandya for Abhishek Sharma, we’re likely to back SKY to come good in this fixture.
IPL Fantasy 2026 – Fantasy XI for Match 2 – MI vs KKR: Thoughts and Captaincy Tips

Players playing in Match 2: Varun Chakravarthy (KKR) (BOWL) (10 Credits), Suryakumar Yadav (MI) (BAT) (10.5 Credits), Quinton de Kock (MI) (WK) (8 Credits), Finn Allen (KKR) (7 Credits), and Trent Boult (MI) (BOWL) (10 Credits).
Although pretty much all five players on the team have a good case to consider them as captaincy picks, we’re likely to lean towards the MI players since their team looks much stronger on paper. Both QDK and SKY have positive batting records against KKR, and a good batting track could mean runs galore for both of them.
The reliable wicket-taking abilities of Varun Chakravarthy and Trent Boult make them solid vice-captaincy options. And while we admire Finn Allen’s explosive point-scoring potential, we’re a bit hesitant to hand him the captain’s armband until he proves himself in the IPL.
