Spire Motorsports is set to celebrate the end of Women’s History Month with a tribute at the NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway. The team rolled out two special paint schemes that honored women working behind the scenes in motorsports and finance.
Spire’s partners, Group 1001, a financial services company focused on retirement solutions, and Delaware Life, which is an insurance and annuities products provider, highlighted their female workforce.
Thanks for the submission!
The team shared the new paint schemes featuring a white and green design on Daniel Suarez’s No. 7 and a blue one on Michael McDowell’s No. 71 cars on X, writing:
“Ending Women’s History Month a special way. Names of women employees at [Group 1001] and women advisors with Delaware Life will be featured on the No. 7 and No. 71 this weekend at Martinsville.”
The NASCAR Cup race at the 0.5-mile oval in Martinsville is set for 3:30 pm ET on Sunday, March 29.
“We’re not trying to hit home runs” – Daniel Suarez on his progress with Spire Motorports after career-best finish at Darlington
Daniel Suarez secured his career-best finish at Darlington Raceway this past Sunday. The 34-year-old’s first year with Spire Motorsports started with steady progress, as he looks to build consistent runs.
Suarez started 11th and ran inside the top 10 for most of the race. He finished seventh, which stands as his best result at Darlington in 17 starts. He made his final green-flag stop with just over 50 laps left and held his position to the finish.
After the race, Suarez praised the No. 7 team’s effort. He also shared that they were focusing on steady progress rather than chasing wins too early.
“I feel like every single week, if we look at our numbers and we can get a little bit better, that’s all I can ask for. We’re not trying to hit home runs right now, we’re just putting one step in front of the other, and that’s how progress happens. The culture of the team is pretty incredible. There are great people here; the structure’s solid, and I’m just really happy and proud to be a part of this organization,” Daniel Suarez said after the race, via Speedway Media.
Busch’s run pushed him up to 14th in the standings. Meanwhile, Michael McDowell suffered a tough Darlington weekend. He qualified 20th and dealt with handling issues during long runs. A speeding penalty in Stage 2 dropped him back in the field, and a loose condition made it hard to recover positions. He still fought through the race and finished 20th.
Carson Hocevar in the No. 77 Chevy finished fourth place, leading all Spire Motorsports teammates with him setting 13th in the points standings.
