Jaylen Waddle is going to wear the No. 17 jersey on the Denver Broncos. Waddle will don the jersey previously worn by Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

According to Broncos Wire, the Denver Broncos shared a photo of Waddle holding up his new jersey, featuring No. 17. Humphrey took to X and posted a hand emoji.

“🀚🏾” Humphrey wrote on X.

NFL fans took to his comment section to give their two cents about the move.

A fan said, “Hope Waddle atleast bought you dinner.”

Another asked, “Are you dipping out?”

One added, “Bye!”

Some fans were more positive.

One said, “Glad you’re a Bronco. We appreciate you as a man, a player and a member of our family. Thank you for sharing your # with our new teammate. Will be looking for YOU, regardless of what # you choose. Would be proud for you to wear #87. Great history with that number in Denver! TYVM!”

Another added, “Thanks for staying onπŸ§‘πŸ’™”

One chipped in, saying, “Love your game big dog.”

Humphrey wore the No. 17 in 2023 and again when he returned to the team in 2025. He re-signed with Sean Payton’s team during free agency this year, but he is one of eight players on the franchise’s roster who do not currently have a listed number on the team website.

It seems that Humphrey is comfortable with fellow wide receiver Waddle snagging the No. 17. That’ll bode well for team chemistry as the Broncos target their first Super Bowl since 2015.

Jaylen Waddle starting new chapter in Denver

Jaylen Waddle has spent the entirety of his professional football career with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins selected Waddle with the sixth pick of the 2021 draft.

The Alabama Crimson Tide product recorded three 1,000-yard seasons in Miami. He stepped up as the team’s No. 1 receiver in Tyreek Hill’s absence during the 2025 season, but he couldn’t help the team to a playoff appearance.

The Dolphins traded Waddle and a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for their 2026 first, third and fourth-round pick. He’ll now catch passes from Bo Nix as part of Sean Payton’s offense for the foreseeable future.

Jaylen Waddle joins an offense with quarterback Nix, playmakers Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant. The Broncos reached the NFC Championship Game last season and will look to go one better in the upcoming campaign. Getting the best out of the former Miami Dolphins standout would be a priority for the franchise.
