Rumors recently started circulating about WWE’s newest acquisition, Royce Keys, being fired before making his first appearance on any of the weekly shows. Fans online speculated that the former AEW Trios Champion had been fired for allegedly lying about his age.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer claimed that the erstwhile Powerhouse Hobbs was 41 years old, but disclosed that he was in his 30s to WWE. Fans started speculating about Keys being fired for allegedly faking his age. However, that is not true, and has been reinforced by Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net in a post on X/Twitter.

“In case there was any doubt, no Royce Keys/Will Hobbs hasn’t been fired from WWE and the age story shouldn’t even be a story,” he wrote.

Keys made his WWE debut in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match this year, entering at number 14 and eliminating Damian Priest. However, he has not made any appearances for the company since then.

Royce Keys’ WWE roster seemingly revealed

The former AEW star’s roster has been a subject of speculation since his debut, and we might finally have some clarity on the issue. According to WrestleVotes on their recent QnA session, Royce Keys is set to join SmackDown going forward.

He is expected to make his debut on the Friday Night Show this week in Dallas, Texas, as it moves to Syfy for two weeks. However, his debut on the blue brand has not yet been officially announced by the company, indicating that it could be a surprise angle.

Considering he eliminated Damian Priest from the Royal Rumble, the two could start a feud heading into WrestleMania season that could culminate in a match at the Show of Shows this year. It remains to be seen whether the AEW star will indeed make his debut this week, following the recent rumors about his status with WWE.
