The mayor of Rio de Janeiro announced that Chappell Roan would be barred from performing Todo Mundo no Rio, following a reported incident involving Jorginho Frello’s family and her security team. The mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, made his stance clear in a public post on X on March 22, where he wrote:
“I want to say that as long as I’m in charge of our city – this girl @ChappellRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio! I doubt Shakira @shakira @Shakira_Brasil would do that!”
In the post, Cavaliere shifted focus to Jorginho’s family, extending a gesture of goodwill by inviting the footballer’s daughter to attend one of the city’s biggest music events as a special guest.
“Besides, @FrelloJorginho your little one is already a guest of honor of the organization in May!” he wrote.
The mayor’s remarks came a few hours after Jorginho Frello publicly criticized Chappell Roan, alleging that her security guard accused his daughter, described as a fan of the singer, of harassment. He said the encounter left the child “in tears” and characterized the situation as “disproportionate.”
The incident reportedly took place at a hotel in São Paulo during Lollapalooza Brasil, where Jorginho’s wife, Catherine Harding, and his 11-year-old stepdaughter were staying at the same time as Roan.
While the family did not confirm which child was directly involved, Harding later shared a photo of her daughter, Ada, from the festival.
As of now, Chappell Roan has not publicly responded to the statements issued by the Rio mayor.
Jorginho Frello accuses Chappell Roan of targeting his 11-year-old daughter and accusing the little girl of harassing the singer

Professional footballer Jorginho Frello publicly criticized singer Chappell Roan following an alleged incident in which a member of the singer’s security team confronted his 11-year-old daughter during a hotel encounter in São Paulo.
In a lengthy Instagram Story shared in both Portuguese and English on Saturday, March 21, the 34-year-old athlete described the situation as deeply upsetting for his family, according to a report by People Magazine.
He explained that his daughter had been extremely excited to see the artist she admired, even preparing something special in anticipation of the moment.
“My daughter woke up incredibly excited. She even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire,” Jorginho Frello wrote on Instagram (as per People Magazine report dated March 21).
Frello went on to describe the brief breakfast encounter, emphasizing that his daughter’s actions were completely harmless and typical of a young fan.
“She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything,” Jorginho Frello wrote.
However, according to Frello, the situation escalated unexpectedly and became “disproportionate” when a “large security guard” approached their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking aggressively. He claimed the guard accused them of allowing the child to “disrespect” or “harass” others.
Jorginho Frello questioned how such a minimal interaction could be interpreted that way, stressing that simply walking past and looking at someone should not warrant such a reaction. He described the moment as distressing, noting that his daughter was left shaken and in tears as the situation intensified. He explained:
“He even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot… I understand very well what respect and boundaries are. What happened there was not that. It was just a child admiring someone.”
In his closing remarks, Frello expressed disappointment over Chappell Roan’s alleged behavior, suggesting it was “sad to see this kind of treatment” from someone who should understand the importance of fans. He emphasized that, “at the end of the day,” it is fans who contribute to building a celebrity’s success.
He concluded by expressing hope that the incident would prompt reflection, stating that no one, especially a child, should have to go through such an experience. Frello also wrote in all caps that without fans, the singer would be “nothing,” and added that Chappell Roan did not deserve her fans’ “affection.”
So far, neither Chappel Roan nor her reps have publicly responded to Jorginho Frello’s allegations. The singer is currently gearing up for her performance at the music festival in São Paulo.
