WWE star Chad Gable revealed himself as “Original” El Grande Americano. The star was in action in Mexico this weekend.

AAA’s Noches de Los Grandes special emanated from Monterrey, Mexico this past Saturday night. The event was healdined by Original El Grande Americano going up against El Grande Americano in a Mask vs. Mask match. New AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio was also at the event and left the commentary table to head to the ring for the introductions. Both competitors gave it their all in the match, with finally El Grande Americano emerging victorious after hitting Original with the charging headbutt.

In an emotional promo segment after the match, Gable unmasked himself and spoke about his journey exploring Lucha Libre. With his family in the ring, the star detailed that he had put on the mask to master the art of lucha and beat all the luchadors in the world. However, during his journey, he learned about Mexico, the people, and its culture. Gable admitted that he could not overcome the Mexican spirit but would always be the original El Grande Americano. He praised his opponent, proclaiming him to be the only El Grande Americano. The former Alpha Academy member also promised that someday he would be back in AAA.

“Mark my words, I don’t know when and I don’t know how… But Chad Gable will be BACK in AAA. GRACIAS,” Gable said.

The Mask vs. Mask showdown between “Original” El Grande Americano and El Grande Americano turned into a chaotic matchup filled with outside interference. Both men attacked each other’s masks and exchanged brutal strikes, with Original even busting El Grande open.

The action spilled beyond the ring when Los Americanos Hermanos interfered on behalf of Gable, only for Los Americanos to even the odds. Comedian Ojitos de Huevo and Pimpinela Escarlata also got involved, both seeking revenge on Original. Later, Andrea Bazarte appeared to support El Grande despite being barred from AAA. In the end, El Grande Americano connected with his charging headbutt to score the victory and celebrate with his allies.

It will be interesting to see the kind of reception Chad Gable gets in WWE moving forward.
