Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ace player Virat Kohli chose not to shake hands with Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Travis Head during the post-match routine between the two sides at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, on Friday, May 22. The two players had a brief altercation during the second innings when the defending champions were attempting to chase down a mammoth 256-run target.
Early on in the innings, while fielding at the cover region, Travis Head had taunted Virat Kohli to attack and play some shots. The attempt to rile him up had not gone down well with the RCB opener, who made an impact player sign with his hands, and urged him to come into the attack and bowl to him.
Kohli was eventually dismissed for 15 runs off 11 deliveries in the final over of the powerplay, while Travis Head bowled the 19th over of the innings. After the end of the match, which ended in SRH’s favor, the two teams shook hands on the field.
While Kohli shook hands with every other member of the opposition, he chose to completely ignore Travis Head’s extended hand, not even making any sort of eye contact, leaving the Australian confused. Have a look at the moment right here:
Virat Kohli has had his fair share of similar on-field tussles with Australian players over the years. The star player was even fined for barging into then-debutant Sam Konstas during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar series’ Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
RCB secure a top-spot finish in IPL 2026 despite 55-run loss to SRH
The visitors had their task cut out after SRH posted a massive score on the board. RCB had to avoid losing by a heavy margin to keep their top two status intact, and managed to do so after putting up 200-4 in reply, and settling for a 55-run defeat.
Virat Kohli and RCB will be next seen in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Qualifier 1 clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, on Tuesday, May 26
