For the second consecutive offseason, the Myles Garrett trade rumors have surfaced. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year requested a trade last season before agreeing to a historic deal with the Cleveland Browns.

He hasn’t requested one this year, but many around the league believe that he wants out of the AFC North team. Amid rumors and speculation, Anthony Lima and Ken Carman discussed the situation. Lima called out opposing teams for trying to push a narrative about Garrett.

“The hard part of this is we have no idea whether or no Myles truly wants out,” Lima said. “It’s an assumption from everybody out of Cleveland, like, ‘Of course he wants out.'”

Carman then shot down the notion that Garrett would have added differently if Jim Schwartz became the Browns’ new head coach instead of Todd Monken.

“This is where I think the Jim Schwartz stuff is overblown,” he said. “He said this stuff when Jim Schwartz was his defensive coordinator. Could Jim Schwartz end all that conversation?

“Do you really think he’d be here for Jim Schwartz? Do you really think he would be at the voluntary stuff for Jim? He may like Jim Schwartz; he’s gonna be about his business. He’s gonna be about his legacy and his greatness. Would he stop any of these conversations if Jim Schwartz actually got the job? I don’t think he would.”

He became the best defender in the league thanks to Schwartz, and Garrett seemingly disagreed with the team’s decision to hire Monken. The Browns already have plenty of issues, and the last thing they need is Garrett stirring the pot.

Andrew Berry makes clear statement on Myles Garrett’s future with Browns

In the wake of rumors about a potential Myles Garrett trade, Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry made it clear the team had no interest in moving the defensive end.

“If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have needed to make a contract adjustment,” Berry said, via ESPN. “So it doesn’t have anything to do with that.”

He went on to call Garrett a “Brown for life.”
