A popular AEW star has seemingly revealed that he was in contact with WWE during the end of his previous contract. But in the end, he ended up choosing to stay with the promotion.

At the end of 2023, it was reported that MJF’s contract with the Jacksonville-based promotion was set to expire, and he began to hint at a potential bidding war for him. He made his return to the company at Double or Nothing a few months later, confirming that he was remaining All-Elite, having re-signed with them.

During his appearance on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Friedman was asked whether he was in actual talks with WWE before he re-signed. The former AEW World Champion mentioned how he could not directly answer the question, but hinted that the Stamford-based promotion had interest in him.

“I can’t legally answer that question, but let’s use our brains. Wouldn’t you f*cking want MJF on your roster? So there’s your answer.”

He claimed that despite how he felt towards him, there was no denying how good a wrestler he was and how he was thriving in WWE. Nonetheless, the AEW star was not a fan of him as a person.

“No I’m not surprised at how good he’s doing, doesn’t change the fact he’s a fu**ing c*nt. He just sucks, a bad guy, but he’s an incredible professional wrestler… How many times do I have to repeat myself, he’s a piece of sh*t, but he’s a great wrestler,” MJF said. [H/T: WrestleTalk on X]

MJF says his stance on CM Punk hasn’t changed and discusses the evolution of the AEW locker room: “How many times do I have to repeat myself? He’s a piece of shit, but he’s a great wrestler. There’s no longer people in the locker room that look at my company as a stepping

In MJF’s case, it does not seem like he’s going anywhere. He has established himself as one of the faces of the company, and one who looks to be willing to ride and die for them. It remains to be seen if this will change sometime in the future.
