Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) comfortably by 8 wickets in the 44th match of IPL 2026 on Saturday, May 3, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. As a result, CSK moved north to the sixth spot in the points table with four wins after playing nine games.
Mumbai Indians batted first in the contest after winning the toss and could only get to 159/7 in 20 overs. Naman Dhir (57) top-scored for the five-time champions with a brilliant half-century, while Ryan Rickelton (37) and Suryakumar Yadav (21) chipped in with mini contributions. Anshul Kamboj (3/32) and Noor Ahmad (2/26) were among the wickets for CSK in the bowling department.
Jasprit Bumrah then dismissed Sanju Samson (11) early to give MI a decent start in the defense. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad took the responsibility on himself and anchored the chase perfectly for his side with an unbeaten knock of 67 (48). Youngster Kartik Sharma (54) supported him with a maiden half-century in IPL.

“We started really well in the first two overs, then they got the momentum. But after the power play, we pulled it back well right till the end. Then with the bat, we did lose the early wicket, but with one of the top 3 batting till the end, the job was done. Anshul Kamboj is someone who is keeping his plans really simple. Noor is adjusting well! He is bowling extremely well in the middle overs.”
