Abhishek Sharma’s sister Komal was overwhelmed as the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener mentioned her name during the post-match presentation of the IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday. The southpaw slammed his ninth T20 century, finishing unbeaten on 135 off 68 balls at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Speaking after winning the Player of the Match award, Abhishek mentioned that his parents attending the match made his knock even more special. He added that his sister could not attend the game because of an infection.
Komal wrote in an Instagram post:
“Watching from my hotel room, not there because of an infection… but feeling every moment. Goosebumps, pride, happiness all at once. You played like a one-man army, and the whole nation is so so proud of you. I always knew you’re made for this. I love you. Always your proudest sister ❤️.”
Abhishek became the highest run-scorer of IPL 2026 during his ton. Komal was seen wearing her brother’s Orange Cap in a separate post. The swashbuckling batter also presented her with a signed SRH jersey.
Abhishek Sharma’s attacking batting powered SRH to a daunting 242/2. The side came up with an impressive bowling performance and restricted DC to 195/9 in 20 overs.
“I want one of the cameras to just go to him” – Abhishek Sharma on his father attending his matches
Abhishek Sharma was asked during the same interview if he takes any feedback from his father. He stated that his father has attended his matches since U12 and continues to give him instructions.
The 25-year-old remarked that he would like to have a camera capturing his father’s reactions. Abhishek said (via Cricbuzz):
“To be very honest, I don’t know how since U12 days, my dad’s been sitting next to the screen always and in Hyderabad as well, he’s always sitting there. And whenever I’m just on the non-striker end, he always tells me how to play. So it’s still going on. And next time, just I want one of the cameras to just go to him and just see his reactions. It’s going to be really fun. And it’s actually incredible that how I always look at him and he’s always looking at me and giving me the instructions.”
Abhishek Sharma has scored 323 runs across seven innings at a strike rate of 215.33 in IPL 2026. SRH clinched their third consecutive win of the season. They would look to build on the momentum when they face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, April 25.
