Police have arrested the man who was caught in now-viral doorbell camera video insisting he be let into a California home.

Fairfield Police said that Jason Nichols is facing a slew of criminal charges, including vandalism and burglary. According to police, he is the man seen in Ring app footage ranting and raving on a front porch, asking if everyone inside was okay and who was home. He claimed his name was Harry Dresden, which is the name of a character in The Dresden Files, a series of fantasy/mystery novels written by Jim Butcher.

He also started demanding to see the homeowner’s child, the video shows.

“Where’s your daughter?” the 30-year-old repeatedly barked on Tuesday, April 7, the same day he was arrested. A woman and her child were home at the time of the incident, police confirmed.

In the frightening footage, Nichols can be seen wearing a beige trench coat, damaging part of a bell and seemingly trying to kick the door in.

Nichols, according to police, eventually found an unlocked sliding glass door and entered the home without permission.

The husband can be seen in the footage confronting Nichols inside the home with a shovel and demanding he leave. Police said the two men got into a physical struggle and at some point, they hit each other in the head with the shovel, leaving them both with head injuries.

Police said that they arrived to find Nichols outside the home and took him into custody.

It was unclear if police knew Nichols’ motive for the crimes.
