Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) debutant Praful Hinge got his Indian Premier League (IPL) career off to a stunning start as he dismissed Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius for ducks in the clash against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). The right-arm pacer struck thrice in his very first over to leave the visitors reeling at 1-3 in the run chase at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday, April 13.

The debutant was handed the new ball straightaway as SRH were tasked with defending a 217-run target. After conceding a single off the first delivery, Praful Hinge delivered a searing bouncer to the in-form Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The teenager tried to execute a pull shot, but could not get on top of it and middle it as Salil Arora took a comfortable catch with the gloves.

A couple of deliveries later, No.3 batter Dhruv Jurel chopped one onto his stumps to be dismissed for a duck as well, leaving RR in a state of some early trouble. The ir crisis only expanded as Lhuan-dre Pretorius whipped a delivery on his pads to the fielder at deep square leg.

The southpaw had flicked it, attempting to get off the mark, but found Nitish Kumar Reddy in the deep to perfection. Have a look at Praful Hinge’s dream start right here:

This marks the first instance where a bowler has picked up three wickets in the very first over of an IPL innings. The Vidarbha pacer had featured in the Indian domestic campaign, coming into the IPL 2026 campaign. Hinge had come up against Jurel in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy at the start of the year, but had ended up wicketless on that occasion.

Praful Hinge dismissed Riyan Parag as well to reduce RR to 9-5 in SRH vs RR IPL 2026

The right-arm pacer’s dream start continued as he struck in his second over as well. After fellow debutant Sakib Hussain got the better of Yashasvi Jaiswal in his maiden over in the IPL, Praful Hinge claimed the fourth wicket of his spell.

RR skipper Riyan Parag attempted a massive expansive shot on the off side, only to nick it to the fielder at slip. After two overs, the debutant’s figures read 4-6 as the unbeaten side are reeling at 9-5 after three overs.
