AEW star Maya World recently revealed that her brother had tragically passed away. Now, further details have emerged regarding the unfortunate accident that got the latter killed.
A couple of days ago, Maya World took to X/Twitter to share news of the heartbreaking passing of her brother. In a brief and touching post, she revealed that she had first started watching professional wrestling because of her brother, and stated that everything she does with her career from here on out will be meant to honor his memory. Now, more specific details have emerged regarding the passing of Jatwane Anton Wilson, the individual in question.
According to updates from WFAA, Wilson lost his life on June 7, 2026 due to an accident, after getting hit by a Mercedes SUV on State Highway 205 near the boundary line between Kaufman and Rockwall County in Texas. According to officials, the 25-year-old had been standing outside a disabled vehicle before entering a traffic lane. Although Wilson died at the scene, the driver of the SUV that struck him did not suffer any injuries
The report further notes that the accident continues to be under investigation. The Wilson family recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to seek help with funeral expenses for Jatwane. Sportskeeda stands with the rest of the wrestling world in conveying its sincerest condolences to Maya World and her family at this time.
Maya World’s recent performances in AEW
After making a couple of appearances in ROH in 2023 and after unsuccessfully facing Thunder Rosa on Collision in 2024, Maya World returned to AEW programming in early 2025, losing to Megan Bayne in her Dynamite debut. Later in the year, “That Girl” was placed in a tag team alongside Hyan, and the duo impressed the company’s officials by showing up and showing out against TayJay, replacing Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize after the latter team declined the booking.
On Christmas Collision 2025, Maya World and Hyan battled The Babes of Wrath in a failed effort, and less than a week later at Worlds End 2025: Zero Hour, they were beaten by The Sisters of Sin. Towards the end of last December, it was announced that both stars had officially signed with All Elite Wrestling. After wrestling in a couple of tag bouts in January of 2026, they returned to action at Dynasty 2026: Zero Hour, unsuccessfully challenging The Divine Dominion for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles.
Maya has continued to perform on ROH since then, and took part in the first-ever Women’s Survival of the Fittest match for the ROH Women’s World Title at Supercard of Honor 2026. More recently, she took on and lost to Hazuki on the May 30 edition of Saturday Night AEW Collision.
