Carson Hocevar shrugged off his Martinsville incident with Bubba Wallace. The Spire driver shared that Wallace texted him to clear the air, but the former found the situation hilarious since he still got to finish the race while Wallace ended up wrecking.
During the Cook Out 400, Wallace triggered a 15-car pileup on a final stage restart. He made contact with Hocevar multiple times until the latter spun out amidst a stacked field.

However, Hocevar returned to action with minor repairs, while Wallace parked his car due to severe damage. The 23XI driver later spoke to the media and took responsibility for the incident, noting that he ‘misjudged’ the corner.
In a recent interview at Bristol, Hocevar addressed the scuffle and said,
“He texted me. I just kind of laughed about it because, there’s times where I feel like I’m definitely deserving of something and I was laughing that, luckily, my stuff was still rolling, but I didn’t feel like I deserved it and still got it. So I was just laughing at how it worked out.”
“But now he texted me, said he was just having a rough day and when I passed him, you know, he said ‘you did nothing wrong. I was just already mad’ and that sent him me over the edge. So, I was like ‘no, it’s cool man’, like I’ve been there, done that. I’ve ended plenty of days and obviously it hurt him more than did me,” he added.
Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, also commented on the incident and placed the blame on his driver. He called it a ‘really bad misjudgement’ on Wallace’s part, since the DNF dropped him from eight spots down to 11th on the standings. Wallace is now tied in points with three other drivers, Chris Buescher, Kyle Larson, and Brad Keselowski.
Carson Hocevar, meanwhile, finished 17th and dropped two spots down to 15th.
Bubba Wallace reveals personal apology to Carson Hocevar
Bubba Wallace spoke to Fox Sports and addressed his controversial Martinsville incident with Carson Hocevar. The Alabama native lamented lost points in recent races and hoped to bounce back at the half-mile concrete.
“Oh, it was good. He didn’t do anything wrong Sunday, so I apologized to him, but all good,” Wallace said.
Carson Hocevar qualified ahead of Bubba Wallace for Sunday’s Food City 500. The Spire driver rounded out the fifth row, while Wallace placed 12th. Denny Hamlin stands between the two drivers in 11th. Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney conquered the ‘The World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ and grabbed pole.
Hocevar has an average finish of 14.8 after five starts at Bristol. His best result comes from a seventh-place finish during the 2025 Bristol Night Race.
